About commercial outdoor benches

The range runs to 181 models across more than thirty families, and most of them share one build: a welded marine-grade aluminum frame, stainless steel hardware, a super-durable powder coat, and 100% recycled plastic slats as standard. Cedar, Accoya pine and bamboo are options on most families. The Rutherford Bench 6ft is the one we sell most, followed by the Bayview Bench 6ft, whose single angled leg is broad enough to take a commemorative plaque.

Seat heights sit between 17 and 19 inches across the range. A six-foot backed bench with arms weighs 115 to 160 lb depending on the family; the Bayview Backless Bench 6ft weighs 85. The Skyline Curved Bench 6ft is built to a custom radius, and six sections close a circle 12 ft across.

Recycled plastic lumber does not rot, splinter or warp and never needs paint, which is why it is the standard slat. Cedar weathers to silver grey unless it is oiled. Where a plaque matters, the Standard Bench 6ft is part of a bronze plaque gifting program and the Parker Bench with Armrests 6ft has plaque space in its lower backrest.

Wishbone supplied the City of Campbell River all the furnishings last fall for an upgraded stretch of the South Island HWY south of Campbell River. Furnishings included bike racks, picnic tables, benches and our new single seat JEM lounge chairs. Trina is the Parks Technician for the City of Campbell River and she recently gave us these comments regarding the JEM Lounge Chairs we supplied on the project. Thank you to Wishbone for the JEM chairs. They are really comfortable, look terrific and the colours are perfect for the oceanside site. The chair blends the hues of driftwood and ocean and is a perfect complement to our branded City ‘blue’. Sitting in these chairs, placed as close to the beach as possible, is a magical experience. Imagine…a cup of coffee, and easy chair and a view that is out of this world!

Questions

What slat materials are available on the benches?

100% recycled plastic lumber is standard. Most families also offer western red cedar, Accoya modified pine or compressed bamboo. Recycled plastic never needs staining or paint, cedar weathers to silver grey unless oiled, and Accoya is modified so it will not swell, shrink or warp outdoors.

What lengths do the benches come in?

Six feet is the standard length shown across the families here. The Skyline Curved Bench 6ft is made to a custom radius, with six sections forming a 12 ft outside diameter, and can be ordered backed or backless, with or without armrests.

Is there a bench designed for older users?

The Mountain Classic Bench 6ft has a contoured backrest and large flat armrests that aid sit-to-stand. The Rutherford Wide Body Bench 6ft adds legroom at each end and angles its armrests to match a resting leg. The Rutherford Bench 6ft has senior-tested seat geometry.

Can a bench carry a memorial or dedication plaque?

Yes. The Bayview Bench 6ft has a broad single leg designed for commemorative plaques, the Parker Bench with Armrests 6ft has plaque space in its lower backrest, and the Standard Bench 6ft is part of a bronze plaque gifting program.
