Cedar
Western red cedar grows on this coast, and its natural oils are what resist insects and rot with no treatment at all. It is among the more dimensionally stable softwoods, so it moves little across a season. Left alone it weathers to a silver grey, which is what most parks departments choose. An oil finish holds the original warm tone for anyone who would rather keep it.
- Natural oils resist insects and rot
- Superior stability for outdoor use
- Beautiful grain, no treatment needed
